Tenneco Increases Exhaust Coverage With Expanded Direct-Fit Offering For All Nameplates

Introduction of New Walker® SKUs Doubles Over Two-Year Period; Import Applications More than 40 Percent of Quiet-Flow®3 Offering

Harrisonburg, VA - Tenneco Inc. (NYSE: TEN) has reinforced the Walker exhaust brand's coverage leadership with the introduction this year of more than twice the number of products introduced in 2004. The company has also significantly increased Walker direct-fit product coverage for popular foreign-nameplate applications and DynoMax® performance exhaust coverage for muscle cars, light trucks and other models.

One of the world's largest manufacturers of emission control products and systems, Tenneco in 2006 has added 575 new exhaust SKUs - including 137 premium Quiet-Flow3 direct-fit mufflers and welded assemblies and 123 direct-fit catalytic converters - to the Walker product line. This aggressive investment, which will continue in 2007 with plans for an additional 665 new SKUs, has already resulted in industry-best, 98 percent* coverage of North American vehicles that are within the prime replacement age of 8 to 18 years, according to Frank Murkowski, marketing manager, North American Aftermarket emission control, Tenneco.

"The aftermarket's primary competitive advantage is the ability to offer the right replacement part at the right place and time," he said. "By relying on Walker, exhaust service providers will no longer have to turn away or lose business because they don't have rapid access to a direct-fit, OE-quality replacement exhaust component for virtually any domestic or import vehicle."

With coverage of more than 178 million registered vehicles, Walker offers an unparalleled portfolio of engine-to-tailpipe exhaust solutions for independent service providers. The Walker product line also includes extensive direct-fit coverage of growing fleet of foreign-nameplate vehicles, with more than 40 percent of new Walker Quiet-Flow3 premium mufflers and 39 percent of popular Walker SoundFX® mufflers addressing these applications.

"The largest area of potential growth within the exhaust category is coming from imports, and Walker is now positioned to help service providers capture these sales with products that are as good as or better than what import specialist companies provide," Murkowski said. "Shops can rely on Walker for all makes and models and be confident that the muffler or welded assembly will provide the ultra-precise fit and OE-style performance and sound they prefer."

Tenneco also is helping shops address the growing performance exhaust opportunity with scores of new ultra-high-flow cat-back systems, headers, pipes and mufflers for everything from classic and late-model muscle cars to diesel-powered light trucks and SUVs. The company's DynoMax performance brand introduced nearly 100 new SKUs in 2006 and plans to deliver a similar number in '07, Murkowski said.
