WALKER® EXHAUST RATED NO. 1 AMONG AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR PROFESSIONALS IN RECENT SURVEY

Tenneco Inc. Emission Control Brand Preferred by Majority of Technicians, According to 2007 Frost & Sullivan Survey

LAS VEGAS, NV – The Walker® exhaust brand from Tenneco Inc. (NYSE:TEN) is the leading choice of U.S. automotive repair professionals as “Best Overall Brand” in the replacement exhaust category, according to a recent survey conducted by Frost & Sullivan.

The annual study, “2007 United States Automotive Technicians’ Choice: Evaluation of Automotive Replacement Parts,” found that automotive service shop owners, managers, service writers, and technicians preferred Walker exhaust systems and components by a margin of more than seven-to-one over competing products. The study was released in conjunction with the presentation of the 2007 Frost & Sullivan Technicians’ Choice Award to Tenneco’s Walker product and marketing teams.

“The specific factors that appear to have influenced automotive technicians’ preference for Walker include product quality, availability, warranty, and brand reputation,” said Tonya Fowler, director, competitive benchmarking services, Frost & Sullivan. “This survey group is very important, given that nearly nine out of 10 are purchase decision makers for their businesses.”

The study also found that 38 percent of surveyed repair professionals rated Walker products as “best overall,” compared to five percent for the second-place exhaust brand. The reliability, coverage, and precise fit of Walker components were leading characteristics noted by survey participants. “You don’t have to modify (Walker products) to get them to fit; you can just bolt them into place,” wrote one respondent.

Frost & Sullivan is a global consultancy specializing in technology, marketing, economic and customer research, competitive intelligence and corporate strategy. The company sponsors a variety of awards recognizing businesses for outstanding achievements in areas such as technological innovation, customer service and strategic product development.

“The exhaust market is extremely competitive at the distributor and installer levels, and we do everything we can to provide products that help these customers capture more sales, complete more installations per day, and build strong consumer loyalty,” said Richard Alameddine, vice president of marketing, North American Aftermarket, Tenneco. “This widely respected annual survey shows that our unique approach is making a clear difference at the installer level.”
